Hello Reader, how are you doing?
I normally don't send a newsletter on a Monday. No one needs extra thoughts in their head when you are getting yourself set up for the week ahead. Today I will make an exception though to share two freebies with you.
Why? Let me paint you a picture of my Monday morning.
There has been a water leak in my hallway for the last week. It started slow, I called the plumber and put down a towel to soak it it up. Plumber came, had a look, said it wasn't too bad and said he would come this week because he was busy. My gut was saying it's pretty bad if water is leaking out of the wall, but what else was there to do. The leak started getting a little worse and I put down more towels, thinking it would be fine. Spoiler alert, it wasn't fine.
Over the weekend we ran of out of towels and had to put them through the spin cycle twice a day to keep the flood at bay. By last night the water started seeping through the carpet in the bedroom. The leak in the wall has slowly and steadily been soaking through the concrete or cement or whatever the house is made of. And it has spread everywhere.
This morning at 08:00 I called the plumber and said that its's urgent. So now here we are, the wall is being bashed out and my hallway is a mess of wet cement.
So why am I telling you this?
Because our emotional life works in much the same way. Using towels to just mop up on the surface doesn't actually fix anything. Sometimes we have to just have to trust our gut, do the difficult thing, break the wall and get to the source. Before it causes widespread damage to everything around it. And that is important enough to be addressed early on a Monday morning.
Over the weekend I recorded a 20 minute practice for honoring sadness. Namibia is going through a very intense third wave of COVID and there is much loss & grief around. Both directly and indirectly. So this video is a container for if you need to take a time out and tend to the waters of your emotional life. If you are based elsewhere, you might still find it a useful practice to acknowledge and release the global rollercoaster of the last 18 months.
Then secondly, I would love to share with you my new ebook, Yin Magick. It contains 3 sequences to enrich and deepen your practice by creating clear guidelines for self-practice. There is no substitute for a self-practice, it is the act of breaking the wall and tending to yourself at the source. This e-book will help you approach the practice with a more nuanced perspective and give you the space to make it your own. Some of you might also have tried downloading it over the weekend, and in some places that didn't work. Apologies, those gremlins have also now been chipped out of the wall.
So with that, I wish you a great rest of the week. May your stay unflooded in theses challenging time and may you have the strength & wisdom needed to take care when you spring a leak.
Much love, Liezl
